My family has their own take on the loose meat sandwich. It’s a flavorful bite without too much effort. Enjoy, Bianca
• 1 lb ground beef
• 1 onion, diced
• 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
• 1 tsp paprika
• 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 1/2 cup beef broth
• Hamburger buns
1. Brown ground beef and diced onion in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up the beef as it cooks.
2. Drain excess fat from pan.
3. Add Dijon mustard, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.
4. Pour in beef broth and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the liquid has mostly evaporated and the meat is juicy but not too wet.
5. Serve meat mixture on hamburger buns.
6. Enjoy!
Emily’s family recipe
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. ground pork
1 tsp. olive oil
1 small onion
1 clove garlic
1 can tomato sauce
½ green bell pepper chopped
½ cup sliced green olives
1-2 tablespoons capers
1 tbsp cumin
1 tsp oregano
Salt and black pepper to taste
4 brioche bread buns
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Once the oil is shimmering, add onion, stirring occasionally until translucent and tender, 6 minutes.
2. Add ground beef and ground pork, using a wooden spoon to break up the meat into small crumbles. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Once half the meat has browned, add garlic, bell pepper, and spices. Stir until combined, and cook the meats until they are no longer pink at all.
4. When meat is done add tomato sauce, olives and capers. Stir until combined and flavors meld.
5. Pile meat onto one hamburger bun, and cover with the other half of the bun. Repeat until you have four sandwiches.
