As part of cult favorite television show Roseanne’s comeback, network ABC recreated the show with a pop-up during South by Southwest, complete with a recreation of the iconic Lanford Lunch Box. It took place in 2018 at the Volcom Garden at 1209 East 6th Street.
The SXSW rendition of Lanford Lunch Box’s menu consisted of dishes from the show. This meant loose-meat sandwiches, pies, coffee, and Canoga Beer (the show’s fictional brand of root beer). The rest of the pop-up included recreations of the show’s living room and garage, koozies, and other swag.
The character of Roseanne Conner had opened the Lanford Lunch Box on the show with her family and her former boss at Rodbell’s Luncheonette. Conner had sold off the restaurant in the fake-out dream final season of the show, which meant they still ran it.
